How to Make Extra Cash as a
Busy Mom with a Full-Time Job
Being a busy mom with a full-time job is already a lot, but the dream of financial freedom is what keeps me going! I wanted to find ways to make extra income without sacrificing time with my kids, and that’s how I started this blog you’re reading right now.
After launching my blog, I started looking into selling digital products. Why? Because they’re passive income! You create something once, list it, and sell it over and over without needing to restock or ship anything.
Selling Digital Products – Where to Start?
There are so many platforms where you can sell digital products, but my personal favorite is Etsy. It’s beginner-friendly, has built-in traffic, and is a great place to start for moms like us.

Creating with Canva –
The Best Tool for Digital Products

Once I decided to sell digital products, I needed an easy way to create them. That’s when I found CANVA It’s hands-down one of the best tools for moms who want to design but don’t have fancy software or experience.
Here’s what I love about Canva:
- Super easy to use (even if you’re not a designer!)
- Tons of free templates for social media, invitations, business cards, and more
- Drag-and-drop features (no complicated tools)
- Great for mom projects like birthday invitations, posters, and planners
I use Canva not just for my Etsy shop, but also for my kids’ birthday cards, school projects, and even some freelance graphic design work.
Using AI-Generated Designs for Digital Products
One game-changer for my Etsy shop has been AI-generated designs. I use AI tools to create unique clipart, which I then repurpose into other digital products like invitations, banners, and social media templates. This allows me to maximize my designs and create multiple revenue streams from a single concept! AI has made designing even faster, and it helps me keep my shop fresh with new products regularly.
Starting My Etsy Shop & Finding My Niche
After playing around in Canva and AI design tools, I finally created my Etsy shop and listed a few digital products. I experimented with different ideas but eventually found my niche: Clipart PNGs, JPGs, and customizable digital products like birthday cards, blog banners, and logos.

Selling digital products takes time and effort, but the goal is to eventually make sales in your sleep and generate passive income. Am I there yet? No. But consistency is KEY!
SEO – The Secret to Getting Found on Etsy
One of the biggest things I learned is that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is EVERYTHING when selling online.
What is SEO? (Dummy-Proof Version)
SEO is how people find your products when they search online. If someone types “Cute Dinosaur Birthday Invitation” in Etsy’s search bar, and your product has those words in the title and description, they are more likely to find your listing!
SEO Tips for Etsy Listings:
- Use long-tail keywords (e.g., “Pink Aesthetic Planner for Moms” instead of just “Planner”)
- Fill out all 13 tags with related keywords
- Write a detailed description using keywords naturally
- Use high-quality images so your listing stands out
Pinterest – The Secret Weapon for Digital Sales
If you’re like me, you might have thought Pinterest was extinct, but let me tell you—it’s a goldmine for digital products! Pinterest helps drive traffic to your Etsy shop, blog, or website.
Here’s why I love using Pinterest:
- Millions of users searching for ideas and products daily
- A great way to get your digital products seen (especially printables, planners, and clipart!)
- It links directly to your Etsy shop or blog (HINT: maybe the reason you found my blog!)
I pin my products with eye-catching images and keywords, and over time, more and more people start clicking and buying. Don’t underestimate the power of Pinterest! Come by and check out my Pinterest page!
